Rules and Guidelines

Postby Nightstar1441 » Sun Jul 18, 2010 6:54 am

These are The Rules and Guidelines for SHFF. These rules and guidelines are subject to modification. Violations of the rules will lead to a warning first, followed by a week ban for a second offense, a month band for a third offense and then a permanent ban. This is subject to change based on the nature of the offense.

1. Play well with others. We don't mind a little spirited discussion, but no name-calling, no trolling, and no flaming. Be civil, and we'll all get along fine.

a. Do not tell other people that they only like what they like because they were duped, brainwashed or otherwise mislead. Disagree and debate all you want, but don't imply that other posters' tastes or opinions are not their own.

b. Do not use  in an insulting manner.

c. Talk with other people, not at them. I realize it's a subjective thing, so this is more a request than a rule, but I'd rather see people conversing and trying to make themselves understood than speechifying or repeating the same rants over and over ad nauseum.

2. Keep it clean. That goes for inappropriate images, too. We'd like to keep this board as kid-friendly as possible. No profanity in thread titles. Not even clever little runarounds like "sh*t" and "f*ck". I don't want newbies stopping by and getting a bad impression of the place based on a couple of thread titles.

3. As much as we want people to feel free to discuss there are certain topics that SHFF is just not qualified to handle.. Polarized topics such as politics, religon, race and sexuality are best left for other forums. If there are topics that include talk of violent acts or contemplation of suicide, we will pm the requisite information (hotline numbers, etc.) and delete the posts.

4. No spoilers in thread titles. And please do your best to use spoiler tags and spoiler space where applicable. That's not a rule so much as it is common courtesy. Remember we are all not on the same release schedule.

4. No links to porn or sites with sexual content. No attachments of same. This is an immediate and permanent bannable offense.

5. No posting just to up your post count. No announcements as to how high your post count is (WooHoo! I have 1000 posts!).

6. When it comes to debating, stick to the topic and don't start questioning your opponent's morals or intelligence. Knock another poster's arguments, not the other poster. Insults will be deleted. Repeat offenders will face a potential banning.

7. Threads designed simply for one-word responses aren't allowed. In a similar vein, posts that consist of nothing more than "Good post." or "I agree." (known as me-too posts) are frowned upon. They add almost nothing to a conversation. If you agree, state why.

8. Multiple accounts will not be tolerated and is a bannable offense. If you have a family member that is also a member of the forum, staff must be notified within 48 hours of them joining or the account will be locked. During official Eaglemoss polls - there is a strict one vote per household rule. Any violation of this rule will have the votes discounted and the individuals permanently banned. Accounts registered from a confirmed proxy address will not be activated as well.

9. Custom Cribs will be assigned by staff members for those who show consistent dedication to the hobby. Individuals who have been banned from the forum will not be allowed to have their work shown on the forum or via proxy.

10. Your own opinion about something is not, in and of itself, worthy of its own thread. I understand that you have opinions, and that you think your opinion is interesting, but we have so many discussions where you can express your opinion. You do not need to (and should not) form your own thread to do so.

11. No spamming. Please do not post the same post in multiple locations. Additional posts will be deleted and a warning sent. Multiple offenses will be met with stricter action.

12. Staff decisions on disiplinary action are not to be questioned on the forum and will not be tolerated. If you have a question or a concern over an action - please PM a staff member.
